PART 4: BELIEF 1
THE NUMBER ONE KEY TO LOSING WEIGHT IS TO 'EAT LESS AND MOVE MORE'
THE TRUTH- Okay, buckle in for this first one, because when it comes to breaking through in weight loss this THE biggest and most important reframe you will EVER do, but, and I mean a huge BUT… this is where that open mindedness needs to come into play, because we have been brainwashed by the diet industry for decades to believe it, and this reframe will challenge everything you have ever learnt, done and been taught before.
It will provide you with answers you have long sought, shine light and offer awareness and clarity on why you have yet to achieve long-term weight loss success, and provide you with new and exciting hope for a future of complete weight freedom for life.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that what I am about to share with you will completely alter your brain chemistry when it comes to losing weight and completely change the trajectory of your entire life.
And that is the fact that the reason you have yet to succeed in your goal to lose weight is categorically not because you do not want it enough, nor that you aren’t capable/strong enough. It is because you have been misled into believing that the cause of your weight is food, therefore the solution should be diet/food-led, when the cause of your weight struggles is emotional/behavioural so the solution should be behavioural.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not for one second suggesting that diet isn’t a key factor in weight management, or that the CICO model (the principle of ‘eating less and moving more’ to lose weight`) isn’t sound, because it’s literally scientifically proven to achieve weight loss results. What I am saying is that in order to be able to consistently apply that scientific formula the mindset, behaviour and habits must be fully aligned and receptive to it, otherwise old habits return, and that initial effort is short-lived, as are the results achieved. And this is why so many people are struggling to achieve weight loss results that last, and why they have to ‘keep starting over’ on their weight loss journeys year after year. Meaning the diet industry is letting people down.
But you don’t even have to take my word for this, the statistics prove it:
In 2024 The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that over 45% of the global population is actively trying to lose weight, with only 20% of that percentage actually succeeding.
That means a staggering 80% of that percentage are trying to lose weight and failing repeatedly, with some sources suggesting that those statistics haven’t changed for over 40 years.
So let’s just be real here- is it the fact that 80% of the global population (approx 6.6 billion people) just don’t want to lose weight enough to put in real effort, or is the real problem the fact that diet-led solutions for weight management just aren’t sufficient enough? I personally would say it’s pretty obvious where the real problem lies here.
But there’s a reason why the diet industry doesn’t want you to realise this. And that’s because it profits hugely from your failure. Yep, it profits from you losing ££ and not lbs.
So let’s just take a moment to really shine a light on that fact.
The global diet and weight management industry is currently valued at around £329.83 BILLION (accounting for roughly 23% of global industry revenues), and it continues to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 8.3% each year, making it one of the biggest global industries ever.
But what’s really interesting is consumer behaviour studies show that a vast percentage of that huge revenue comes from RETURNING REPEAT CUSTOM — meaning failure hugely benefits the industry financially, and if everyone transformed their mindsets and made life-long changes in managing their weight, the diet industry would take a massive financial hit. So they keep pushing the narrative that the key to weight loss is science, in order to keep customers returning time and time again.
But before the loyal slimming club members that have achieved their goals this way come for me (as they often do), let me be clear that I’m not saying diet-led systems don’t work AT ALL, I’m saying that they do not work FOR
And if a diet-led approach does happen to work for you then it isn’t because ‘you wanted it more than those that struggle, or ‘you just tried harder than they did’, it’s because you were fortunate enough to have a mindset that required less re-wiring to to lose weight then those it doesn’t work for. Which is amazing for you, but not the case for all.
But also, let’s be clear- it only works for you if you aren’t a repeated returning member. Because real weight loss success isn’t habitually losing, regaining and returning, it’s losing and maintaining those losses for life without the need to remain a member.
I have had countless conversations/debates with dieters that argue that their slimming club does work for them because they always lose weight, but that circumstances, stresses and life prevents them from staying ‘on plan’ and re-gaining, but that as soon as they get back on plan they started losing again, proving it works for them. When in fact, it actually proves it only works for them short-term. Because if it was a sufficient enough system to work long-term then there would have been no “falling off the wagon”, as they would have learnt how to regulate their emotions, deal with stress in a productive non-food related way, and developed resilience, determination, freedom and the ability to remain balanced regardless of what life threw at them.
But instead it offers a food plan that is restrictive, and does not promote mental freedom, so people tend to struggle with following it for life, because clearly it can’t be classed as food freedom if you have to only follow a specific plan.
There’s also no real behaviour modification coaching. Yes, to some degree they do address behaviour and habits, but it’s predominantly food related and superficial. They rarely offer psychological or intervention strategies for deep-rooted behaviour modification or emotional regulation, which is why so many struggle to achieve long-lasting results.
And yet despite the undeniable statistic of an 80% failure rate, dieting (the CICO) model is still the leading solution in weight loss with the narrative that ‘eating less and moving more’ is the key, but that is purely because there has never been an all-encompassing commercial weight loss system that covers the psychology and scene of weight loss- until now.
So now you understand the true path to weight loss success you can begin making those changes, however I do know that this reframe was A LOT to digest, but it truly is THE most important reframe of all, because until you recognise the importance of the psychological aspects of weight loss and start implementing them, you will find yourself losing and regaining the same weight over and over again. Which not only takes a mental toll, but builds up even more mental resistance making each ‘starting again’ cycle doomed from the offset.
But I also know that dieting is familiar, and change is scary. And our brains will always seek out familiarity, even when it’s detrimental to our growth. And after years of being spoon-fed the same narrative from the diet industry that their way is the right way, you may encounter some mental resistance when you start changing the foundation of your focus, so I strongly recommend using the below audio to help recondition your brain to prioritise the process differently.
